ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is inspired by women and their constant quest for balance.

I have been lucky enough to have lived in different parts of the world and met incredible women.  I quickly realized that they all felt that something was missing. They longed for balance in their lives. The challenge is that women seem to never be satisfied with the balance that they find or once they find it, it is fleeting.

Therefore I decided that I had to create works that transmit balance, peace, beauty and harmony.  Works that emit an energy that is pure, capable of both connecting with ourselves and helping us silence the noise.

When I am striving for balance I am drawn to water. Water and wood have helped me to channel and express my emotions.

I work with organic materials, wood and paper. In the case of wood its origin has particular importance because it’s previous life impacts the resultant character.  Using my work in wood I emboss paper in an attempt to open a new dialog between the two pieces.

Each of my works is a snapshot that tries to recreate the atmosphere and energy in the precise moment when everything seems to align. I see my work as a doorway to silence and introspection. An invitation to meditation.

My intention is to share my path with the hope that the works’ energy radiates and inspires others in their journey towards balance.
